Welcome to Dixon Baby News Vol 1 (11/17/2003) Hi, Everybody! I thought I would share our baby happenings with you all through e-mail. It's hard getting together with everyone and keeping everybody up to date. I guess we cannot say this enough. We're excited! :) I think I am approaching an end to my nausea. I went three nights in a row with a heaving session. Just when I was ready to brag, the wee one kicked it into high gear and took me for another round this morning. I guess I should get used to the wee one showing me who is boss. :) Joseph is being awesome. No suprises there. He is helping me so much with the house. Of course, he's been taking care of me, too! We've been getting baby name suggestions: Jenn offered: Nicholas Garret Mackenzie Jewl Joseph offered: Samuel Jonas Julius Kay suggested: Noah Sarah Jewel William Misty lent: Lucinda Jewel We like all those names. Though, Sarah, Noah, and Jonas are the current favorites. I still wish we could know our baby on the outside before having to name it. :) I am sure we won't know its name until the last minute. We've started making nursery plans. No theme, yet. We're just going to clean out the room and paint. I've been furniture shopping. One day when Joseph and I can go to town together, we'll pick out something. I've been reading alot about what pregnancy and what brand new wee ones are like. :) It is fascinating stuff. I just hope Joseph and I have enough energy to do it all and enjoy it all. Amazingly, I haven't had the increased appetite women are often said to have while pregnant. I guess that is characterisitc for this pregnancy, since most other things have been right reverse of what they were before. I already had a big appetite before being pregnant. Now with the baby, I don't want to eat alot. Plus, I have alot of food aversions to things I used to eat all the time...like sugar, tea, and pizza. I just let baby decide what we eat, although I think I miss pizza psychologically. :) Some things baby has been up to is growing. Its about 3 or 4 inches long and weighs a few ounces. Its busy hiccuping and making bones. It's got taste buds now and a sucking reflex. A very busy baby! So, now I'll share some personal fantasies with you. 1) I want to use cloth diapers. Although, I may use disposables when we are traveling or visiting, the majority of the time I want to use cloth ones. I've read alot of pros about cloth ones, although the obvious con is alot more effort washing extra diadies. Surprisingly, there isn't a big cost difference from cloth diapers laundered at home and disposable diapers. Although, there are environmental concerns, of course. 2) That we will get enough sleep to function like people without new babies. And now...parental concerns. 1) I'll be overprotective. 2) Joseph's main concern is the child will have too much denim in its wardrobe (via Me). :) So, that is the latest in baby news. My next doctor visit is on the 24th. I'll be getting a flu shot and maybe Rhogam. I hope I can start on prenatal vitamins soon. Feel free to reply to the list or me privately. I'd love to chat about our upcoming blessing! Kay
