Dixon Baby Newsletter Vol. 6 (12/23/2003) Chris Winstead offered: Hanna Chris's little girl offered: Emma John Monde suggested: Elizabeth Victoria Margaret Our name list keeps growing! I don't think we are going to have enough kids to use all these names. ;) Well, we got to see Wee One yesterday. All I can say is he's (she's) spunky! We definetly know the feet work. They were kicking through the entire ultrasound. Also, the baby was moving its arms and put its hand in its mouth. You wouldn't think there is alot to do in there, but it seems to be very imaginative. :) It's still too small for me to feel it kicking. But, it was really fun to see it in action. The doctor said everything was a-ok. I had even gained 4 pounds. Yeah! We had a very short list this time. We asked about the sides of my stomach hurting when I cough or sneeze. I usually bend my knees to keep this from happening, but sometimes I'm caught off gaurd. It really stings! He said that was normal. I'm being stretched out after all, and those muscles will feel like they are being pulled when I sneeze. I asked him about putting my arms above my head. I've always heard that that was a no-no. He said not to worry about it. That there really was no indication that doing that would harm the baby in any way. I told him I was taking prenatal vitamins now... although not everyday. He said that he wasn't concerned about the prenatals. He said later on that he would start me on some iron supplements because all pregnant women become anemic. You just want to control how anemic they become. He said the iron wouldn't make me nauseated. We'll have another very short sonogram at the next visit. Although Wee One does indeed have a heart, (We saw and heard it beating, afterall.) baby wasn't being very cooperative in posing for the ultrasound. The doctor wants another ultrasound just of the heart so he can get a four-chambered view. Hopefully, Wee One will have moved around by then and be in a better position for peeking at its heart. We've been getting some suggestions for pediatricians in Hattiesburg. But, we are reconsidering getting a doctor in Hattiesburg. When you have a sick baby, riding 45 minutes is a long trip. We hope we can get a good recommendation for a doctor in Laurel. We have a nursery! Of course, there is always a couple more things we want to do. But, Thursday, we got all the furniture in and the pictures up. I'll try to remember to attach thumbnails of the two pictures we've hung in the room. Also, we're going with a green and rust combo of colors. That is what I matted the Pooh pictures in. While fabric shopping, we found a elephant print with the green and rust colors. Ms. Jeane has offered her skills to make the curtains and bedding for the baby room. Joseph and I think the green and rust colors will last longer than primary colors or pastels. It will make it easier to redecorate as the child gets older. Several folks have been asking, "What can we do for baby?" Well, first of all, just love the baby! :) If you are looking for gifts, Joseph and I are going to try to come up with a wish list. We have registered at Babys-R-Us, but, really, we haven't picked out much stuff there. Right now, if in doubt, give baby a book! We hope our child will love books as much as we do. Books and reading are very important to us. So, you cannot go wrong with the gift of a book. We have an ever-growing library, but we don't have many children's books, yet. I wore my first pair of maternity pants yesterday. Joseph was getting concerned that the elastic on my regular pants was going to put a crease on baby's forehead. :) The maternity pants are alot more comfortable. I may wear them after baby's born. I bet they work great for big meals. ;) We are getting a Circuit City in Hattiesburg. This is important to include in the baby newsletter because Joseph just told me yesterday that part of baby's first birthday present would be coming from there. I expect that Baby Dixon and Papa Dixon will be frequent visitors to Circuit City. A house with two nerds is double the fun and adventure! :) Another nerdy note, if you wish to e-mail baby, you can do so at weedixon@dixondata.com. Baby's e-mails will go in the scrapbook. Can you believe it is Christmas in just a few days? This year has really flown by. Everyone tells me that time will just go by faster and faster after Wee One arrives. Hope everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable holiday! Kay
