Dixon Baby Newsletter Vol. 9 (1/20/2003) I am officially pregnant. Ok, I know that this is a little late in the game to be acknowledging the fact. But, I am having my frist sense of being rolly-polly pregnant. It started the other day when I had the computer sitting on the coffee table. I decided to sit down on the floor and send an e-mail. By the time I finished the e-mail, my left leg was asleep up to my hip. I couldn't get up. I was wriggling around on the floor trying to figure out how to get up. Also, my leg was doing that deep-down type hurting you sometimes get when an appendage is asleep. It was hurting so much I was laughing...the kind of laugh you do when you hit your funny bone. I am sure I was quite a sight. I could just reach the phone. I thought about calling my dad to come help me up, but then I thought I would never be able to live that down. :) So, I just wallowed on the floor until the feeling came back. This was my first glimpse of how things were about to become. Last Friday, I was out and about in town. I had squatted down to look at some books on a bottom shelf. When I started to stand up, I couldn't. I had to push up off of the shelf. I think I pulled a muscle in my foot. :) Later that same day, I was behind a gent in line who dropped his fingernail clippers. They shot behind an end cap display. He was a big hefty fellow, so I got down on the floor and fished them out for him. I almost didn't get up again. :) Mind you, I'm not even really big yet. I do look pregnant now, but I'm not a basketball yet. I am just surprised how fast my mobility is changing. After relating these tales to Joseph, he said maybe I shouldn't be so nice from now on...as in picking up other people's stuff. Then I had to brag on him how earlier that day I had chose NOT to help someone in need. A lady came in one of the stores I was in looking for help to push a broken down car out of the street. Normally, I would have helped, but I didn't offer because I was thinking, "Pregnant women probably aren't supposed to push cars." I was very proud of my decision even though I had passed up a good samaritain opportunity. We went to the doctor yesterday. They did the gestational diabetes test, but I won't know until the end of the week what the results are. We did get another sonogram of Wee One's heart. It is all there and working fine. All the other parts seem to be in order as well! :) Joseph has been thinking like a daddy lately. The other day he told me that the computer room was just not baby friendly...too many cables and doo-dads. I agreed. So, we may be doing baby gates for the computer room. Joseph has also been assuring me that baby will want to go to Toy's R Us alot. I told Joseph to notice how there really aren't many kids in Toy's R Us. I think parents do this on purpose so the kid doesn't point at everything and want it. :) Joseph assures me that he has this area under control. So marks his first daddy duty. Well, I hope everyone is having a good week. That wraps up the latest on Wee Dixon. Take care, Kay
